Greetings, and welcome to my website!

My name is Dan Mazer. Using the stage name "BanjerDan," I'm a solo acoustic performer based in Washington, DC, playing styles "from bluegrass and beyond" on banjo, guitar, mandolin and dobro. I give banjo workshops, and enjoy performing anywhere from clubs, coffeehouses and house concerts to major festival events. In the 27 years since I first started playing the banjo, I've performed in almost every imaginable situation, from busking to bar gigs; in pit orchestras - including bandleader positions - for theatrical productions, and playing banjo and guitar in "Country Music, USA" at Opryland in Nashville. I even played banjo with the Owensboro, Kentucky, Symphony Orchestra, in a program of music by Kurt Weill. Along the way, I've also written articles for Acoustic Musician, Banjo Newsletter, and Bluegrass Unlimited magazines.

From November 1995 until November 2000, I was member of The Jackstraws, which is a curious cross between a folk music band and a theatrical comedy troupe. Some of my favorite gigs were as the "Pirate Landing Party" at Sea World of California and Seaport Village; as "The Safari Bush Band" at the world-famous San Diego Zoo, as "Full Sail," greeting the cruise ships that come to visit San Diego; and as "Great Dickens!" and "The Singing Santas," entertaining holiday crowds at shopping malls and private parties. Please visit their web site at http://www.llsproductions.com/ for more information.

I relocated to my old home town of Washington, DC in November 2000 to be near my family and to focus on my solo career.  I'm available for recording sessions, workshops and solo gigs. I'd also welcome inquiries from established artists seeking a reliable sideman, and theatrical productions or touring shows looking for musicians. I'll promptly send out my promo materials to anyone who's serious about bookings.  My first CD, Old Stuff, was released in February 2001.

Thank you for your visit.
